Day 1 : Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will be met by our driver guide at the Kigali Airport and proceed with the guided tour to the fast-growing neighbourhoods of Kigali that are changing the face of the city. There is an opportunity to visit the Presidential Museum which is the residence of two of the former Presidents of Rwanda. Here you will have an opportunity to learn a bit about the political history of Rwanda. We will drive through the older commercial and residential areas with a major stop at Kigali Genocide Memorial Site commemorating the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. Stop for lunch then drive to Musanze. If time allows, you will visit two twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo. Their deep blue waters ringed by steep hills and tall waterfalls with the outlines of the nearby Virunga Volcanoes provide a spectacular backdrop. Your overnight will be at the booked hotel.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing before beginning your Rwanda gorilla trekking experience.
The trek takes you into the forested slopes of the Virunga Mountains in search of your assigned gorilla family. The duration of the trek varies depending on where the gorillas are located.
After your gorilla encounter, return to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking
After breakfast, prepare for another exciting primate adventure: golden monkey trekking.

Best Time for Gorilla & Golden Monkey Trekking in Rwanda
Rwanda can be visited throughout the year for gorilla trekking. However, the drier periods are particularly popular because trekking conditions can be more comfortable.
The main dry seasons generally occur around June to September and December to February, while the wetter months can bring more challenging forest conditions but also lush scenery.
Because gorilla permits are limited, we recommend booking your safari well in advance, particularly for peak travel periods.
